ASBIS extends portfolio with GSmart phones
ASBIS has signed an agreement with Gigabyte Communications Inc., (GBC), the leading smartphone manufacturer in Taiwan.
January 03, 2013, Limassol (Cyprus) -- ASBISC Enterprises Plc. (WSE: ASBIS), an expert in the distributor of IT products in EMEA emerging markets, has signed an agreement with Gigabyte Communications Inc., (GBC), the leading smartphone manufacturer in Taiwan. ASBIS is now authorized to distribute GSmart smartphones in 17 countries of EMEA region including Belarus, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, UAE and Ukraine.

“We are delighted to have tied this deal as smartphones are key segment of non-PC IT market today,” said Laurent Journoud, Executive Vice-President for New Business Development at ASBIS. “With the wide and innovative product range of Gigabyte Communications that includes dual SIM products, we are optimistic about GSmart become a key player in the smartphone markets in countries covered by agreement. “By adding of GSmart smartphones in portfolio ASBIS will offer broader opportunities for retailers and resellers in our markets."
Industry analysts oversees that more than 50 per cent of computing devices sold globally are not PCs. While PC sales are likely to reach almost 400 million units last year, estimated figures for combined sales of smartphones, tablets and non-PC netbooks is well over 400 million.
